Longitudinal Learning Experiences

Staffing (48 weeks) - Residents are required to staff 32 hours per month (typically four shifts total per month - one weekend and two centralized additional shifts).

Teaching (52 weeks) - Residents will have the opportunity to develop their teaching and precepting by precepting pharmacy students and participating in a teaching certificate program. Residents will also have the chance to deliver an ACPE-accredited presentation, as well as a formal patient case presentation. Additional opportunities for didactic teaching are facilitated through Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and the Duke University School of Medicine Master of Biomedical Sciences program.

Pharmacy-Related Practice Project (52 weeks) - Residents will learn the steps involved in planning and completing a project that contributes to furthering pharmacy practice. In addition, the resident will present the project at a regional conference and prepare a manuscript appropriate to submit for publication.

Emergency Response (44 weeks) - Residents will respond and participate in code blue/emergency events over the course of the residency year.

Administration (44 weeks) - Residents are required to complete a longitudinal administration experience, providing the opportunity to be an active member of multiple pharmacy committees and complete administrative projects to make advancements within the department and institution.
