Purpose
The PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency program builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy education and PGY1 Pharmacy Residency programs to develop clinical pharmacists in specialized practice areas. This residency offers residents the chance to function independently as practitioners by integrating and applying their accumulated knowledge and experience in patient care and other advanced practice settings. Graduates of accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency programs are well-prepared for advanced patient care roles, academic positions, and other specialized careers, and are also eligible for board certification, if available.
The Duke Regional PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency program incorporates an early commitment process, whereby the position for the PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency program can be committed to a current PGY1 resident at Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, or Duke University Hospital in advance of the matching process.
