Our Pharmacy Team
The Department of Pharmacy at Duke Regional Hospital delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered services within the Duke University Health System. As a community teaching hospital within an academic health system, Duke Regional blends exceptional medical care with a personal, accessible environment. Our department includes approximately 36 pharmacist full‑time equivalents (FTEs) who, alongside our technicians, residents, and interns, provide comprehensive clinical and operational pharmacy services. Together, this team supports a wide range of patient care areas and advances medication safety, medication-use optimization, and therapeutic outcomes throughout the hospital. Our pharmacy team plays a vital role in ensuring safe and effective medication use for every patient.
Duke Regional is deeply committed to developing future pharmacy professionals. We have proudly trained PGY1 Pharmacy residents since 2008 and expanded advanced training opportunities with our PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency in 2016. Our residency programs are designed to support each learner’s individual goals through personalized development plans, strong mentorship, and a close‑knit community teaching hospital atmosphere. Residents also benefit from the breadth of the Duke University Health System, with opportunities to complete selected learning experiences at other Duke hospitals or at Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
Additionally, we have maintained a robust pharmacy student intern program since 2018, offering students meaningful early exposure to hospital practice. Interns gain hands‑on experience in both clinical and operational workflows, while working closely with pharmacists and technicians in a supportive learning environment.
