If the resident has an interest area outside the scope of services present at Duke Regional Hospital, efforts will be made to try and provide learning opportunities for those experiences. Learning experiences may be scheduled at Duke University Hospital (DUH) or other pre-arranged sites. These learning experiences will be limited to <25% of the residency year and must be approved by the Residency Program Director and Director of Pharmacy.
Additional Information
Staffing: Residents are required to staff 32 hours per month (typically four shifts total per month – one weekend and two additional decentralized shifts)
Service Experience: Committee involvement opportunities at Duke Regional
Research/Scholarship: One research project with a manuscript, one economic-focused project and one internal medicine-focused manuscript are required. The research project will be presented at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and results will be presented at a local, regional or national meeting. Two hours of ACPE continuing education will be developed and presented.
